Vilnius Airport is small and low-stress. From the terminal you can be in the Old Town in under 25 minutes by almost any option. The right choice depends on three things: your arrival time, how much luggage you have, and how confident you feel using local apps in a new country. Here are the four scenarios most arrivals fit into.
If this is your first time in Vilnius and you want zero friction after landing, a pre-booked private transfer is the lowest-stress option. The driver tracks your flight, waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a board, and the price is fixed before you board. You skip the taxi line entirely.

Bolt (the local rideshare) is usually the cheapest car option from VNO — normally well below the airport rank's regulated fare of about €22 to the Old Town. Bolt publishes no tariff card and its pricing is dynamic, so treat any quoted range with suspicion; the app shows your exact fare before you confirm the ride. The catch is that you need a working SIM or eSIM and the Bolt app installed before you land. There is a Bolt pickup zone marked outside the terminal. If you've used Uber-style apps before, this is the obvious value pick.
Best for: experienced travelers, light luggage, and arrivals during normal hours.
The daytime bus 88 finishes in the late evening — check the exact last departure on judu.lt before you count on it — but the night bus 88N continues on the same Airport ↔ Center ↔ Europa Square route from 22:30 until 05:30, so public transport is actually available around the clock. The airport train stops far earlier: departures from the airport run only until about 19:20, so it is no help on an evening arrival. If you land late and value certainty over saving a few euros, a pre-booked private transfer is the most reliable choice — the driver is committed to the pickup regardless of the hour, and you don't have to wake up your hotel hunting for a ride.

Whatever the app shows, the car that turns up is often a compact sedan, so plan for the worst case: two adults plus two large suitcases plus a stroller can be a squeeze. For late arrivals, families, or first visits, yes — the price is fixed, the driver waits with your name, and you don't have to negotiate or queue. For experienced travelers landing during the day with light luggage, Bolt is usually cheaper and just as quick.
It's most useful when you (1) land at an hour when only the night bus 88N is running, (2) arrive with kids, strollers, or sports/music gear, (3) want a guaranteed driver waiting in arrivals, or (4) prefer not to deal with apps and SIM cards on day one.
Confirm three things: the cancellation policy (many operators allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup, but windows differ per supplier and some rates are non-refundable, so read yours), the vehicle class (a sedan suits two adults; book a larger car for luggage-heavy trips), and the meeting-point instructions (most operators specify the arrivals hall, holding a name sign).
Airport rank taxis are metered on the tariff the airport publishes: €3.00 to start, then €1.75/km from 06:00 to 22:00 and €2.10/km at night, on weekends and on public holidays. Those have been the Vilnius fares since 1 July 2025. Drivers do not sell tickets and do not accept cash, so bring a contactless card or install JUDU before you land. The airport train to Vilnius railway station is a separate rail fare of €0.90.
